Hi there! I am a married mom of two boys. My eldest is 13 and has Autism. My youngest is 5 and 'typical'. As you can see there is a big age difference due to the fear of having another child with Autism. My husband and I faced the same fears as all newly diagnosed parents of Autism. I want to start this group to share resources, stories, successes and also so Mamas like us can have a girls night too! *if Dads are interested in getting together, my Hubby is willing to set up a group as well!*

As a new mom, I was shocked how few gay people were involved in the local moms and parenting groups. Now that my son is a toddler, I am hoping to find other gay parents to get together with for child friendly activities, playgroups, etc. This group is open to families with two moms, two dads, and single gay parents.

This group is intended to bring special needs children and their families together through playgroups and activities for the purpose of establishing supportive friendships and building strong networks. My family began our journey with a special needs child just over 1 year ago and as my son has grown and fallen further and further behind, it has felt more and more alienating with each missed milestone. I'm starting this group so that parents and children can have an opportunity to feel supported …

Including Us, is a group dedicated to supporting Special Needs families. Our goal is to create community based activities that promote “Inclusion”. Inclusion means that children with disabilities have the same opportunities to participate, within a community setting with their typically developing peers. The premise of the inclusion model is that no child who has a disability should be prohibited for exploring his or her own community alongside typically developing same-age peers and friends. It …

If you have an idea for a hike and would like some company, everyone is welcome to initiate an activity and we’ll gladly post it. “Plan the hike and they will come". Our average hike is generally 2-5 miles and there is usually a nice lake or picnic area for folks to stop short and catch us on the return if our little hikers would rather collect pine cones or chase lizards. All ages are welcome. A brief BIO and your PICTURE are required.
